Gutters are essential in protecting your home from water damage. Below are 3 reasons why your house needs gutters:
1. HELP PROTECT YOUR HOME’S FOUNDATION
Moving water away from your home’s foundation. It reduces the swelling of soil and prevents erosion. They will effectively manage the water from your roof, possibly reducing the need for costly foundation repair. If the soil around your home consists of expansive clay soils, installing gutters around the entire house is advisable. If water is pooling against your house, gutters are an easy solution.
2. HELP PREVENT EROSION CONTROL
If you have problems with erosion, especially on the down-slope side of your home, gutters are necessary. There are two inexpensive ways to control erosion in conjunction with gutters. Use cement or plastic downspout splash guards for flat home lots to direct the water away from your foundation. On sloped home lots, water should be directed into buried pipes. These pipes carry water away from a house and should be solid, not perforated, and should move water to areas where it will drain away from your home. Ideally, water should be directed to a street or alley. If you are collecting water, it can be directed to a rain barrel or other storage tank to use in your garden or other uses.
3. HELP IMPROVE YOUR HOME
- Adds Value to Your Home
- Saves Landscape, Mulch, and Flower Beds
- Keeps Foundations From Erosion
- Eliminates Water Runoff Problems
- Saves the Soil Underneath Your Foundation
Sizes of Installation:
We install either 5″ or the oversized 6″, seamless, and come in 18 colors. They are made on-site from a flat roll of aluminum and installed with hidden hangers and screws, rather than the large unsightly spikes. We pay special attention to ensuring angles are perfect, so they will drain properly, and to verify an adequate number and placement of downspouts.
Removing them can be a mess when they are full of granules, leaves, trash, and debris. Once removed, they cannot be effectively reinstalled, since they will bend and break upon removal.
Clean Them Frequently
For them to work properly, they need to be cleaned out periodically. Wind will cause leaves, pine needles, and other debris to fall into them and can clog them. This will keep the water flowing down as it should. Clogged gutters can cause damage to your gutters, foundation, flower beds, and landscape.
Fascia boards that hold the gutter system are often made from wood. When gutters clog and fill with water, the boards begin to deteriorate and rot. To clean out your gutters you can either purchase special tools that will ease the job of cleaning your gutters or hire a company who specializes in cleaning out your home’s gutters if you prefer not to climb up on a ladder.
Clean them out at least twice a year.
